The former Rathskeller (a.k.a. the 'Rat'), a campus bar that closed two years ago when the new student centre opened, is being transformed into a vegetarian cafeteria that would cater to the dietary needs of strict Jewish, Muslim and Hindu students.

According to an article in today's Hamilton Spectator, the cafeteria would be open to the whole campus community. But unlike the other 14 cafeterias on campus, this one would focus on religious diversity.

It would offer kosher foods for Jewish students, halal foods for Muslims, and sakahara foods — strictly vegetarian — for Hindus. No meat would be served, so vegans and vegetarians would also get a new place to dine.
