“One of the best parts of my job as McMaster University President is the opportunity to watch our student-athletes in action,” said George. “Every time I come out to a game, I am proud to see exciting Marauder wins, displays of outstanding sportsmanship, and grace under pressure. You consistently set the highest standard and you represent McMaster well.”

Acclaimed student-athletes Kyle Pyear, running back for the Marauder football team, and Meredith Young, award-winning fencer, spoke at the ceremony on behalf of their fellow graduating student-athletes. Director of athletics and recreation Therese Quigley also addressed the crowd.

More than 120 student-athletes from all areas of sport will graduate this year. Coaches, athletic staff and associates were also in attendance.
