“The purpose of the calendar is two fold,” says Debra Earl, employee health education nurse. “We want to provide helpful health information and also promote the services which exist on campus
to foster wellness for employees.”

Earl represents the Healthy Workplace Group, a cross campus committee
with 14 members who produced the calendar. The Healthy Workplace Group recognizes the value of balancing work and life responsibilities. The aim is to increase awareness of employee wellness services available at McMaster University.

Featured in the pocket calendar are monthly pages which highlight a campus service and a health topic. Services include Employee Health, Fun Fit, Employee Work-Life Support Services, Environmental and Occupational Health Support Services and Athletics and Recreation. Health topics include ergonomics, nutrition, safety, fitness and stress management.

President Peter George has endorsed the project. “It is my hope that
you will consult and use these services. These initiatives are in line with McMaster University's vision of continuous improvement, work
satisfaction and will promote a greater emphasis on personal health and wellness,” states George in a letter to employees included in the calendar.

The calendars are to arrive in campus mailboxes this week. It is hoped that every McMaster University employee will receive and use this valuable health resource.
