Policy leaders to address Great Lakes energy options

Three Ontario government ministers are among the conference's 26 speakers:

  • Gerry Phillips, Minister of Energy, Province of Ontario
  • John Gerretsen, Minister of the Environment, Province of Ontario
  • Donna Cansfield, Minister of Natural Resources, Province of Ontario

    Other noted speakers include:

  • Murray Elston, president and CEO, Canadian Nuclear Association
  • Gord Lambert, vice-president, Sustainable Development, Suncor Energy Inc.
  • Thomas Homer-Dixon, professor of political science, University of Toronto; author of The Upside of Down, The Ingenuity Gap, and Environment, Scarcity, and Violence
  • Juergen G. Schachler, president and CEO, ArcelorMittal Dofasco
  • Adam White, president, Association of Major Power Consumers in Ontario

    The conference is being held at the MaRS Discovery District in Toronto. It is open to the public.

    Energy2100 is being organized by the Dofasco Centre for Engineering and Public Policy at McMaster University, with the support of ArcelorMittal Dofasco and the Government of Ontario.

    The Dofasco Centre for Engineering and Public Policy provides study at the graduate level to enhance students' understanding of how public policy affects social, economic and ecological systems leading to sustainability.
