PM announces $35 million for David Braley Cardiac, Vascular & Stroke Research Institute

Prime Minister Stephen Harper was in town this week to announce $35 million for a new facility at Hamilton General Hospital that will house McMaster University researchers.
The David Braley Cardiac, Vascular & Stoke Research Institute received $35 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation to build the new structure, which is expected to open in spring 2009.
Two McMaster professors, Dr. Jeffrey Weitz and Dr. Salim Yusuf, will be moving their research teams to the new facility. Weitz is the director of the Henderson Research Centre (HRC) and Yusuf is the founding director of the Population Health Research Institute (PHRI).
Currently, researchers from the PHRI and the HRC are based at various locations at Hamilton General Hospital and Henderson General Hospital. For the first time, all 300 researchers will be located under one roof.
