Perspectives on Peace is a campaign aimed at fostering creative dialogue around global issues with an emphasis on peace and conflict resolution, and will kick-off later this month.

The year-long Perspectives on Peace campaign will feature a lecture series, a film festival, art exhibitions, a model United Nations conference and more.

Each month’s events will be organized by theme, with September’s being “Peace and Conflict Transformation.”

The campaign gets underway Sept. 21 with a trip to the Woodland Cultural Centre, operated by the Six Nations of the Grand River.

A discussion on the history of residential schools will be held at on Sept. 22, and Bonny Ibhawoh will deliver a public lecture on confronting the moral dilemmas of peacemaking in a conflicted world on Sept. 28.

“Perspectives on Peace is intended to provide an opportunity to participate in ongoing discussion about the complexities of peace-building and conflict-resolution,” says McMaster President Patrick Deane.

“In striving to understand the issues facing our world, we seek also to build an understanding and respect for the perspectives and experiences of people from different cultures, backgrounds and faiths.”

October’s theme is Water and Peace.
