Patrick Deane will receive a special '100th Convocation Award' on Friday at The University of Winnipeg, in recognition of his outstanding work while serving as acting president between 2002-2004.

On Friday, McMaster president and vice-chancellor Patrick Deane will receive a unique honour from The University of Winnipeg.

In recognition of his efforts to promote and grow the university, the former acting president will be presented with a “100th Convocation Award” during Friday’s landmark ceremony.

“As we mark this milestone in the history of the university, we will take pause to honour some key individuals who have contributed to the foundation and fabric of The University of Winnipeg over the last 46 years of its charter,” said Lloyd Axworthy, the institution’s current president and vice-chancellor.

Deane will be honoured alongside other former chancellors, presidents and supporters who contributed to the institution’s success.

Founded in 1967, The University of Winnipeg has had six presidents and one acting president throughout the past four decades. Deane served as acting president between 2002-2004.

In 2004, Deane was presented with UWinnipeg’s Robin H. Farquhar Award for Excellence in Self-Governance, for his exceptional contributions as acting president.
