A new Park 'n' Ride service has been established, allowing at least 20 vehicles to use the Zellers parking lot and take an HSR bus from Martindale Crescent. The transit trip costs regular fare for employees and students without an HSR sticker on their student cards.

“We are excited about this and would like to be able to devote more time to formalizing arrangements with others, such as retail facilities and churches across the city,” says Alternative Commuting & Transportation (ACT) coordinator Jennifer Dawson. “We have tried several times to negotiate a park 'n' ride at Eastgate Square which would be an incredible boon to students and employees traveling from Niagara.”

The service from Meadowlands is about a 20-minute trip and comes right to McMaster without requiring a transfer.

“This is a great initiative and demonstrates the commitment of the ACT Office and the University to assisting with alternative transportation,” says Karen Belaire, vice-president administration. “For employees living in this neighbourhood you can save money by reducing your fuel cost and eliminating the need for a parking pass.”
