Nominate a Distinguished Alumni

[img_inline align=”right” src=”http://padnws01.mcmaster.ca/images/grad-cap.jpg” caption=”Nominate a distinguished alumni.”]A McMaster tradition since 1988, the Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes alumni who have attained a high level of distinction through scholarship, research, teaching and/or creative contributions to the arts or sciences. The McMaster Alumni Association encourages anyone who knows a graduate they believe fits the nomination criteria to make a submission.

Dr. Samantha Nutt '91, the executive director of War Child Canada and her husband Dr. Eric Hoskins '81, a former senior policy advisor for the Minister of Foreign Affairs, are an accomplished couple and McMaster graduates that were each awarded a Distinguished Alumni Award for the Sciences, in 2001 and 2000 respectively, for their separate, but equally impressive endeavours.

The Distinguished Alumni Award for the Arts has been awarded to Jay Firestone '79, one of the international entertainment industry's most experienced film and television executives, currently president of Fireworks Entertainment. Dr. Kevin Lynch '80, the former Minister of Finance for the Federal Government also received the award for the Arts for his contributions to Canadian finance and policy.

Many other fascinating alumni have received the Distinguished Alumni Award, ranging from professional artists to historians, policy makers to human rights activists and innovative researchers to health care professionals. Click here to view a list of past award recipients.

Karen McQuigge, Director of Alumni Advancement at McMaster, believes “it is important to highlight the accomplishments of such highly accomplished grads to the McMaster community and beyond. The incredible accomplishments alumni achieve after graduating from McMaster are inspiring stories worth sharing with everyone.”

In 2005, screenwriter Len Blum '75, received the Distinguished Alumni Award for the Arts for his contribution to filmmaking, and Rajendra Singh '79, received the Distinguished Alumni Award for the Sciences for his advancements in the semiconductor industry and his dedication to teaching.
