After extensive consultation with faculty, staff and students, a draft UTS strategic plan is now available for viewing online.

Understanding the needs and concerns of users on campus has been integral to the ongoing strategic planning process. The draft plan proposes five key directions for UTS:

  • Committing to systems renewal
  • Deepening service excellence
  • Modernizing system and network infrastructure
  • Creating a co-operative cross-campus technology model
  • Bolstering IT risk management systems
  • The draft plan also makes several recommendations, including:

  • Forming a cross-campus inclusive Advisory Committee to conduct a system needs assessment
  • Aligning UTS service functions to ensure successful delivery of the key directions
  • Defining centralized and de-centralized technology functions
  • Creating an infrastructure renewal roadmap
  • Completing a comprehensive risk analysis of our IT infrastructure
  • Over the next few weeks, UTS will work with the Provost and deans to determine the timelines for broad consultation with faculties as the draft plan is refined.

Other stakeholder sessions across campus will also be scheduled, with the goal of having a finalized UTS strategic plan completed by late spring.

UTS has also issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) seeking a partner to assist in systems renewal.

The campus community is thanked for their many contributions to this process.
