Beginning April 7, approximately 40 permit holders will be the first to park under the soon-to-be completed stadium. Permit holders across campus were given opportunity to voluntarily shift from their current lot to the new underground facility. Others will move to the garage once construction is completed.
As the parking strategy continues to unfold, other developments are anticipated.
Later this spring, the phased-in deployment of an automated parking system for McMaster's ground lots begins.
The Zone K lot (previously Zone 4) will be the first to employ automated entry gates. Permit holders will receive a vehicle transponder allowing them entry to the lot. All remaining lots will be converted to the new automated system over the course of time.
Parking and Security will directly contact permit holders with information regarding timing and details about transponder distribution.
In the coming weeks, some construction upgrades begin in advance of the other parking changes. Sidewalks will be installed along Michell Crescent and the gravel lot in Zone H will be paved.
