It’s time to get out that blazer, update your resume and prepare your best elevator pitch.

On Tuesday, March 10, students looking for part-time, full-time, co-op and summer jobs will be able to network with 160 employers at the Connect to Careers Job Fair taking place at the Hamilton Convention Centre by Carmen’s between 10 a.m.-1p.m. This is the third year the event has taken place.

“Connect to Careers is an opportunity for students to get their foot in the door, to connect with employers who are hiring, and explore careers with local industries,” said Gisela Oliveira, career and employment manager for the Student Success Centre.

The fair offers students a wide variety of organizations and employment opportunities to explore, all within the GTHA.

Past employers at the Job Fair have had great success in recruiting from McMaster’s pool of student talent.

To prepare for Connect to Careers, students can view five one-minute videos on McMaster’s YouTube channel, McMasterUTV, under the Student Success Centre playlist.

Video topics include:

  • Things to do when preparing for the Job Fair
  • The importance of updating your resume
  • Making a good first impression when meeting employers
  • How to pitch yourself to an employer
  • Next steps after attending the Job Fair

Students are encouraged to be prepared for the Job Fair and attend with an updated resume, dressed in business or business-casual attire, have knowledge of participating organizations and ready to network with employers.

For more information and the growing list of participating organizations, students can visit the Connect to Careers website.

Connect to Careers is a partnership between McMaster University, Mohawk College, Redeemer University College, Workforce Planning Hamilton and the City of Hamilton.
