McMaster’s Faculty of Engineering has launched a new, interactive website.

The site, exploremaceng.com, is aimed at high school students who want to learn more about engineering.

Through a series of 26 embedded video vignettes and mini-documentaries, the site allows students to better understand the life of an engineer.

Potential McMaster students can also watch videos of faculty members and students leaders and view the University’s facilities to get a feel for campus life.

“This new platform allows us to speak to the next generation of engineers in a very engaging environment,” said Lynn Stewart, director of outreach and community engagement. “The site meets our tech-savvy prospective students where they are. It functions as an online lab, and furthers our tradition of experiential learning.”

The site uses computer code that allows it to detect whether a browser is capable of working with HTML 5 or if it requires Flash. The custom code results in a consistent cross-platform experience on smart phones, tablets and desktop computers.
