New MSU president elected

Vishal Tiwari, current vice-president of education, McMaster Students Union (MSU), will be the MSU president for the 2009-2010 academic year. Tiwari begins his role as president in May.

The MSU presidential election is conducted through preferential balloting where all the ballots are counted and the person with the least number of votes in the first round is eliminated with the second choice votes being distributed. This continues until the there is one candidate with at least 50 per cent of the total votes plus one.

A total of 2,496 ballots were cast in this election.
