New members inducted into Golden Key Society

[img_inline align=”right” src=”http://padnws01.mcmaster.ca/images/golden_key.jpg” caption=”Golden Key logo”]Six-hundred and fifty new members were inducted into the McMaster Chapter of the Golden Key International Society today (Nov. 4).
Accompanied with family and friends, the ceremony took place in the new MDCL building with notable keynote guest speaker Alex Perwich, CEO of Golden Key International. Founded in 1977, the Golden Key Society recognizes and honours undergraduates whose academic performance ranks within the top 15 per cent of the University in their respected faculties.
The Golden Key Society is an internationally recognized academic honour society dedicated to pursuing excellence within the fields of academics, social and volunteering. It is an international student society with more than 320 chapters around the world. The goals of the Society are to recognize and encourage scholastic achievement and excellence in all undergraduate fields of study, to unite with faculty and administrators in developing and maintaining high standards of education, to provide economic assistance to outstanding members by means of both undergraduate and graduate scholarships and to promote scholastic achievement and voluntary service.
The McMaster University Golden Key Chapter, chartered in 1998, earned Gold Status in the 2004-2005 academic year for outstanding achievement.
