The series provides the McMaster community with the opportunity to take in performances by a variety of local and international musicians. The School of the Arts is also hosting a series of free lunchtime concerts throughout February and March. All performances take place in Convocation Hall.

The Celebrity Concert series kicks off with the Baroque Music
Festival, which runs from January 20 to 25. The festival begins with traditional selections and instruments from the Baroque period featuring Richard Cunningham and Zachary Windus during the Lunchtime Concert Series and Les Voix Humaines as part of the Celebrity Concert Series. The spotlight on the
Baroque period will conclude with the “Beatles Baroque.” The
performance features popular selections from The Beatles' songbook on
Baroque period instruments.

“Every year we have people attend the Celebrity concerts and they are
amazed at the high quality and caliber of performers we
present,” says Rose Riopelle, concert co-ordinator, School of the Arts. “Many of the concert goers consider the McMaster Celebrity Concert
Series to be the best kept secret in Ontario.”

The Celebrity Concert Series is bringing back some past favorites. The
Suzanne Ramsay Quintet, whose band features local artists, will perform
on Friday, February 6 at 8 p.m. The Nagata Shachu will thrill the audience with a heart-pounding performance of the Japanese Drum on Friday, March 6 at 8 p.m.

The Lunchtime Concert Series is an excellent opportunity to enjoy local talent. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy 50 minutes of beautiful music. Some of the Lunchtime series performers include David Gerry, Trio D'Argento and Valerie Tryon. All concerts begin at 12:30 p.m. and are free to attend.

Tickets for the Celebrity Concert Series may be purchased from the
