Couldrey is no stranger to the University having served the past ten years on the Board of Governors and seven years as chair of the Finance Committee.

“Roger has a tremendous breadth of leadership and management expertise and we're fortunate to have found someone with his experience and long-standing commitment to the success of the University,” said President Peter George. As well as being very familiar with the University's finances Couldrey has significant private sector experience including time as president and CEO of epost, and had an extensive career with the Bank of Montreal where he held a number of senior executive positions for many years.

Couldrey assumed the position on August 10th and will continue until the end of March when it's hoped a permanent candidate will be in place. The search process will begin in September with the appointment by Senate of a selection committee.

Karen Belaire has been McMaster's VP, Administration since 2000. She leaves McMaster in mid-August to assume the shared role of Chief Operating Officer, Clinical Services for London Health Sciences Centre and Chief Operating Officer, Clinical Services for St. Joseph's Health Care, London.
