The Centre for Continuing Education, Computing and Information Services and Fifth Era Knowledge Inc. have joined together to open the Information Technology Centre on the McMaster campus. The Centre will be officially launched this fall with McMaster's InfoTech Leader Program – the first of many technology programs which will be offered in the new facility.

“This Centre will be used by Fifth Era and McMaster to deliver advanced information technology training to corporate and university clientele,” said Peter Stunden, President, Fifth Era Knowledge Inc. “We are excited about this partnership with McMaster, as it gives Fifth Era a significant presence in southern Ontario's business and educational community. The launch of the Centre coincides with the opening of the Fifth Era office in Hamilton.”

The Centre will be located in Kenneth Taylor Hall, and will feature the latest in advanced technical training in an online and instructor led format. Twelve computer terminals will be located alongside LCD projectors, an electronic whiteboard and a server packed with the latest software applications.

“The Centre will be an invaluable learning tool for the university and the local community,” said Dale Schenk, Director of McMaster's Centre for Continuing Education. “We're thrilled that our own InfoTech Leader students are the first to benefit from this technology, and look forward to offering more hands-on computer courses in the near future.”

Jointly developed by Fifth Era and the Centre for Continuing Education, Computer Information Services and Human Resources, the InfoTech Leader program delivers training in emerging computer technologies, including web design, security and information management.
