New CIO appointed

McMaster has a new Chief Information Officer (CIO).

John Kearney joins the University in February from Wilfrid Laurier University where he is currently the Director, Information Technology Services.

Previously, Kearney was involved in large-scale ERP, network, and telecommunications projects in Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Brazil. His Information Systems and Technology experience covers both the public and private sectors in the fields of higher education, transportation, and manufacturing.

Kearney holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University, a Masters in Business Administration from Concordia University, and Masters in Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

As CIO, Kearney will lead the strategic management of the University's information system organization with a clear focus on service, quality and timely project delivery.

His first day at McMaster will be Tuesday, February 17, 2009.
