New chancellor, honorary graduands to be installed at convocation

File photo.”]In a colourful ceremony steeped in tradition, Lynton (Red) Wilson will be inducted as the 17th chancellor of McMaster University during the Fall Convocation. The ceremony will take place today at 9:30 a.m. in the Great Hall of Hamilton Place.
Wilson, who is chairman of CAE Inc. and a founding co-chairman of the Historica Foundation of Canada, will then preside over the 447th convocation for the conferring of degrees for the DeGroote School of Business, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Arts and Sciences Program.
During the afternoon convocation on the same day (the ceremony begins at 3 p.m.), Wilson will award degrees to the graduating classes of Health Sciences, Engineering and Science.
He will also award honorary degrees to Heather Munroe-Blum, principal of McGill University, and her husband Leonard Blum, an award-winning screenwriter. Leonard Blum will address the afternoon ceremony.
