New accessibility program launches

McMaster’s new MACcessibility program launches today, bringing together a number of existing initiatives and providing the framework for making the University a more accessible place to learn, work and live.

The program provides a one-stop resources for accessibility at McMaster and ensures that students, faculty, staff and visitors enjoy a campus that is accessible and inclusive. It will engage with various campus constituencies in keeping with the University’s third strategic goal of building an inclusive community with a shared purpose.

“The new accessibility program reflects McMaster’s commitment to include everyone in the work and daily life of the University,” says President Patrick Deane. “Whether it is in the classroom, research lab or in our community, everyone has a role to play and we are relying on these diverse talents, skills and experiences to help advance the University.”

MACcessibility will serve as an information hub for accessibility advancements in all spheres of the University. The program seeks to work with the McMaster community in opening the door to possibilities at McMaster.

The program is administered by the office of Human Rights and Equity Services and will promote accessibility initiatives across the University and ensure compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
