Most operations resuming following Gilmour Hall fire

Operations are resuming back to normal following a fire that damaged the third floor of Gilmour Hall on the weekend.

The Research Services and the Office of Research Contracts & Intellectual Property, located in Gilmour Hall Rm. 306, suffered the most damage. Research Services staff temporarily are housed in the Humanities Computing Centre in Togo Salmon Hall. The best way to contact research staff is through their regular email addresses. Office of Research Contracts & Intellectual Property staff are temporarily located at one of its two satelite offices — Health Sciences Centre, Rm. 3N47 and the Communications Research Lab Rm 112A.

Human Resources Services, The School of Graduate Studies and Career Services suffered from smoke and water damage.

Most services offered by Human Resources Services, located in Gilmour Hall Rm. 306, is back to normal. It is expected that operations will completely resume following the long weekend. The School of Graduate Studies, located in Gilmour Hall Rm. 212, and Career Services, located in Gilmour Hall Rm. 110, re-opened today (Wednesday, May 18) at 8:30 a.m.

The fire had been ruled accidental. The exact cause is still to be determined.
