Mission2Mac is a series of interactive, informational orientation events run entirely by students and alumni for incoming first year McMaster Students.

“Student summers tend to fill up quickly and it can be difficult to find time to make the trip to McMaster to get your questions answered – so we're making our way around Ontario to the students,” said Dane Poorter, one of the program coordinators. “The resources and information provided by the program are invaluable to incoming students and we are really excited to give them the opportunity to ask questions that they otherwise may not get answered.”

The transition from high school to university is a big one and it comes with many questions. Mission2Mac is designed to ease the transition that students are about to make when they arrive at McMaster in September.

“The program is a great opportunity for incoming students to hear what it is really like to be a student at McMaster,” said Brennan Reurink, a current McMaster student and co-coordinator of the program. “It's one thing to hear a teacher or professor tell you what to expect, but it's so much easier to relate to someone who is currently in the same position as the students will be in September.”

There will be 15 Missions across Ontario this year, as well as one in Hong Kong. Mission2Mac will provide valuable information and insight about what to expect when students arrive at McMaster in the fall, and a few helpful hints and tips to overcome potential first year stresses of university life. Each Mission will consist of several student speakers, a fun informational video, slideshow, prizes and a question and answer period to address any concerns future students and their parents may have.

Students, parents, friends and family are all welcome to attend. Event dates, locations and registration information are available online. Questions can be directed to Brennan Reurink at reurinbl@mcmaster.ca.
