A poem written by Jamaican cultural icon Louise “Miss Lou” Bennett for Maya Angelou is among the collections housed in McMaster’s archives.

The world is remembering poet, civil rights activist, author and performer Angelou, who passed away Wednesday morning.

Best-known for her 1969 memoir I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Angelou authored seven books, three essay collections and dozens of collections of poetry.
