McMaster's Vice-president of Administration Karen Belaire is leaving McMaster to take on the shared role of Chief Operating Officer, Clinical Services for London Health Sciences Centre and Chief Operating Officer, Clinical Services for St. Joseph's Health Care, London.
In making the announcement McMaster President Peter George said, “Since Karen joined the University in 2000 she has been a driving force in McMaster's success. Her commitment to excellence, financial and administrative leadership, and belief in McMaster's vision and goals has put the University in an enviable position. We will miss her many contributions and wish her every success as she returns to her roots in health care.”
Belaire will remain in her McMaster position until the middle of August.
“We've accomplished so much over the past several years including the initiation of the Crisis Management Team, heightened awareness of Health and Safety, new business systems, projects like the University Student Centre and the M.G DeGroote Centre for Learning and Discovery, the Campus Plan, and more recently to a new push for sustainability,” said Belaire. “These projects and so many more couldn't have been done without everyone's participation and I've been fortunate to have such a great team within the Administrative division to help make these McMaster advances possible. It has been an honor to lead such a dedicated, hard working team.”
A transition plan is currently being developed and the details will be communicated to the campus community once they are finalized.
