McMaster’s Janet Cook inducted to Sports Hall of Fame

[img_inline align=”right” src=”http://padnws01.mcmaster.ca/images/Cook_Janet.jpg” caption=”McMaster alumna Janet Cook continues to garner recognition for her achievements in swimming.”]Janet Cook, a swimmer who was twice female athlete of the year at McMaster University, has been selected to the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame.

Cook got her start in swimming with the Saskatoon Lasers Club and later went on to the McMaster Marauders, coached by Gaye Stratten. Cook was a Canadian Interuniversity Sport all-star four times with the Marauders and the Ontario University female athlete of the year in 1999-2000.

She competed for Canada at the Pan-American Games in Winnipeg, the
Pan-Pacific Games in Sydney, and the world short course championships in Hong Kong, all in 1999. At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, she was part of the 4×100
Canadian freestyle relay team which finished seventh.

The 21st annual Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame induction banquet is Nov. 4.
