The 30th McMaster World Congress is a business conference examining relevant issues and trends in the global economy today, and this year's theme is economic crime prevention.

Once considered a peripheral issue in the corporate world, white-collar crime has come to the forefront of every executive's agenda. The conference will unite perspectives and take a holistic approach towards investigating economic crime.

This year's event will run from January 14 to 16, 2009 at the Hamilton Convention Centre. The conference includes more than 40 speaker presentations, eight meals, two wine-and-cheeses, a panel discussion and a host of other networking events. Keynote speakers of international renown will share their perspectives on economic crime. Speakers include Sherron Watkins, the whistle-blower of the infamous Enron Scandal, Chris Mathers, former undercover infiltrator of organized crime rings, and David Wilson, chair of the Ontario Securities Commission.

“Amid today's troubled economic environment, attaining a deeper understanding of the issues that drive economic crime has never been more important. The struggle against fraudulent activity like insider trading, identity theft and cybercrime is a fight that involves every individual,” says conference co-chair Ryan Giles.

Through education and exposure, the McMaster World Congress will provide the ideal collaborative forum for combating this growing phenomenon.
