He made a second trip to the Olympic podium on Saturday after winning gold in the K1, 500 metre kayak finals. Just the day before a bronze medal had been placed around his neck for the K1, 1000 metre kayak event.

The double medal winner is a 22-year-old McMaster Kinesiology student who lives in Oakville. He took the 2003/2004 year off of school to train for the Olympics. He will return to his studies in September.

Before heading to the Olympics he said, I watched the opening ceremonies in 2000 on the third floor in Whidden Hall. That may have been the exact moment when I decided nothing was going to keep me off the Canadian team from then on.

McMaster president Peter George says, As Canadians I think we all share a tremendous pride when one of our athletes wins a medal at the Olympics. But to have someone who is a part of the McMaster family come home with two medals is awe inspiring. We can't wait for Adam to be back on campus so that we can say congratulations and tell him how much we respect his talent, his determination, and his spirit to succeed.
