The team ran in the 5 km race, which started at Westdale high school and continued through the surrounding neighborhoods.

The annual event has quickly become the biggest fundraising race in Hamilton, boasting more than 900 runners and raising over $70,000 at last year's event. All proceeds raised at the event go directly to helping the children of Haiti. In the past, fundraising efforts has enabled the construction of a school, an orphanage and a playground. This year, the race funds will go towards building another school in one of the poorest areas in Haiti.

The McMaster sprinters were able to raise more than $850 in pledges and registrations for this year's event and everyone who took part had a great time and can't wait to participate again next year. Team veteran, Shannon Mitchell, commented, “it was so nice to have the opportunity to participate in this event within the Hamilton community. It is such a great cause, and we had a lot of fun. As our first team event of the year, it was extremely successful.”
