Three McMaster University rowers are currently at a National Team Development camp getting ready for National Team crews for the summer.

Alan and Aubrey Oldham (twins that represented Canada at the World Under 23 Championships, 2005) as well as their fellow McMaster oarsman Doug Csima (who represented Ontario at the Canada Summer Games in 2005 as well as posted the fastest Under 23 men's score in Canada at the Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships, 2006 in Toronto) left Feb. 25 for Victoria, B.C. for a National Team training camp.

The Oldhams and Csima are trying out for various National Team crews and the camp is an important stage in the selection process for the 2006 team.

Specifically the twin brothers and Csima are trying out for the World University Games crews as well as the National Team crews including the Commonwealth Games and World Championships. Csima , being three years younger than the twins, is also eligible for the Under 23 National Team crews that the twins were part of last summer.

The training camp that they are participating in culminates in selection to a men's eight that will compete in the Heineken Regatta, Amsterdam , March 11 and 12. After the trials, Aubrey Oldham was selected to the Heineken crew.

Csima and Alan Oldham will be returning to Hamilton earlier than Aubrey, but are excited because the mild winter will allow rowers to hit the water at the end of March.

The next step after the training camp will be the Speed Order Regatta held in early June in Victoria. All three will be training in Hamilton at the Leander Boat Club until that time.
