McMaster ranked 11th internationally for medicine

McMaster University has been ranked 11th in the world for clinical, pre-clinical and health subjects by the Times Higher Education World University rankings for 2021.

McMaster tied with the University of Melbourne in Australia, and is the second Canadian university after the University of Toronto, which placed sixth.  THE World University Rankings noted that “Canada’s McMaster University is the biggest climber in the top 80, rising 15 places” as it was 26th in the world in these subjects for 2020.

In particular, McMaster ranked high for industry revenue and citations in those subjects. The other categories evaluated are research, teaching and international outlook.

Earlier, the ranking system announced McMaster as the 69th university in the world and fourth in Canada for 2021.

“It’s our strengths in educating the next generations of the best health professionals and researchers, and particularly for our wide range of research that is highly impactful on national and international levels that we are so successful,” said Paul O’Byrne, dean and vice-president of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

“I hope everyone here takes a bow for their part in putting us in such an enviable position.”
