McMaster professor to receive Humboldt Award

The award is administered by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and granted in recognition of a researcher's entire achievements to date whose fundamental discoveries, new theories, or insights have had a significant impact on their own discipline and who are expected to continue producing cutting-edge achievements in future.

The award winners are invited to spend research time in Germany. The award is valued at 60,000 euro and will be presented next June in Berlin by the president of Germany.

Wong is the Canada Research Chair Professor of Signal Processing. His areas of research include signal detection and estimation, sensor array processing, adaptive filtering, communication theory, optimum designs of transmitters and receivers, MIMO communications, applications of wavelets and solitons in communications, and biomedical signal processing.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is a non-profit organization established by the German government for the promotion of international research cooperation.
