He is among three recipients to be recognized by The Learning Partnership, a not-for-profit organization, which will host the 11th Annual Toronto Tribute Dinner. Susan LaRosa, director of education for the York Catholic District School Board and Jim Leech, president of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, will also be honored at the event.

“Peter may be an economist and an academic, but he is also a great salesman and what he sells is McMaster University,” said Colum Bastable, Chair of the Board of Governors. “His commitment to the institution and its students is unparalleled and very contagious.”

George joined McMaster's faculty in 1965. He became President in 1995 and is currently serving his third five-year term. He has received the Order of Ontario and is also a member of the Order of Canada.
