McMaster physician to recount tsunami relief in Indonesia

Lynda Redwood-Campbell, a physician in family medicine at McMaster, saw the destruction of the tsunami-ravaged areas of Indonesia first hand. For six weeks she participated in a medical/humanitarian mission in Banda Aceh, where she helped provide medical relief to one of the worst hit regions.
On Wednesday April 20, she will provide a first-hand account of the relief efforts in which she was involved at a fundraising breakfast organized by Settlement and Integration Services (SISO). The event will take place at LIUNA Station, James Street North, Hamilton from 7 to 8:30 a.m.
Redwood-Campbell was the physician in charge of the out patient/emergency department of the International Committee of the Red Cross field hospital. She will present photo slides that show a 'day in the life' of her trip, she said.
Tickets to the event are $25 each or $250 for tables of 10. Proceeds will be used to build a reception house in Hamilton that will provide supportive housing to refugees in Hamilton as they struggle to build their lives and become contributing citizens of Canada.
