The McMaster men's basketball team upset the No. 2 team in the country on Saturday to earn their eighth consecutive trip to the CIAU National Championship in Halifax.

The Marauders travelled to the University of Western Ontario to compete for the OUA West Division title and a berth in the National Final 8 Championship.

Alumni Hall at Western was brimming with fans, including many from Hamilton who made the trip to London to support the maroon and grey. In a fast-paced and exciting game, the Marauders would not be denied and walked away with a 74-69 victory over the Mustangs.

The team now travels to Laurentian on March 11 to vie for the OUA Championship banner against the OUA East Champion Laurentian Voyageurs.

Regardless of the outcome on the eleventh, McMaster heads to Halifax for the eighth consecutive time to compete for the elusive national crown. The nationals are March 16-19.

In women's basketball action, McMaster hosted a very successful OUA West Final Four in front of over 4,000 fans but fell short of their quest for a repeat West Division title with a loss to Western in the final on Friday night.
