A one-hour documentary about five senior students of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University is being shown by OMNI.1 television on Sunday, March 18 at 9 p.m.

“M.D(iversity)” is a documentary about the need for diversity in medical education to more accurately reflect the population. It explores the history of how medical schools across North America have chosen medical students, and how the unique approach of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University has aimed to change that.

The program was commissioned and funded by Rogers OMNI Television and produced, filmed and edited by senior students of the Mohawk College Broadcasting-Television and Communications Media Program.

The show profiles students from the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine who represent the spectrum of what diversity in the profession in Canada could look like: Naheed Dosani, Amy Montour, Matt Menard, Adrian Edgar and Vasudha Gupta.

M.D(iversity) also features cartoonist Lynn Johnston – a medical artist during the early days of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, and creator of the renowned cartoon strip “For Better or For Worse.”
