If you haven't already registered for the second annual McMaster United Way Run/Walk, don't forget to sign up. The event takes place on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005 from 12-2 p.m. The route includes a 5km run or a 3km walk through the beautiful McMaster campus.

This is one event where your level of physical fitness does not have to be that of a seasoned runner. It's a fun event for individuals and teams of all athletic (or non-athletic) levels to participate and enjoy while raising money for a very worthy cause, the United Way.

Registration information and further details are available at http://www.workingatmcmaster.ca/uway/.

Through the kindness of event sponsors, prizes and gifts will be awarded for categories of individual and team participation. After walking or running up a sweat, the event will wrap up with light refreshments and presentations at Quarters.

The timing of the Run/Walk event is a great way to start the official launch of the United Way campaign at McMaster, which runs from Oct. 24 to Nov. 18. Pledge forms will be distributed to employees on the 24th along with information about the essential services provided to the local community by the United Way, and how you can support them.

Two additional United Way fundraiser events on campus include the annual Paper Mitten Sale that runs from Oct. 24 to Nov. 18. You can order a supply of paper mittens to be sold within your department for a toonie each. Place your order with co-ordinator, Milica Pavlica at pavlica@mcmaster.ca.

The second fundraiser event is the sixth annual Hallowe'en Bake Sale and 50/50 Raffle for United Way on Monday, Oct. 31, 2005 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. in the DeGroote School of Business atrium. Watch for other fundraisers running throughout the campaign period.

The McMaster United Way Run/Walk event is a part of McMaster's annual Healthy Workplace Week, which takes place October 24-28, 2005. More information about the Healthy Workplace Week program is available from the link above.
