luncheon hosted by President Patrick Deane.

Nearly 150 employees, whose years of service to McMaster range from 15 to 45 years,
were thanked for their dedication at the luncheon.

“It's an honour to be recognized for my work,” said Fred Pearson, electron optics
coordinator at the Brockhouse Institute for Materials Research. “I like training and
working with students, and I feel like I've accomplished what I set out to do at the start
of my career.”

Pearson, along with Robert Eismont, Linda Westfall, Joan Whitehouse and Nigel Wylde,
was recognized for his 40th year of service to the University.

The individuals collectively represented 3,405 years at McMaster.

“You have been a part of McMaster's extraordinary growth and continuous development
as a world class institution for teaching and research,” Deane told attendees. “All of this
growth, all of the changes, all of the success would not be possible without the years of
commitment and dedicated effort of our entire community. I thank each of you for
being a part of the McMaster community. Congratulations on the milestone that you
celebrate today.”
