Mohawk Early Childhood Education graduate and McMaster Children's
Centre teacher Sonya Janssens organized a month-long book drive for the centre's staff and parents. Seven boxes containing almost 300 new and gently used books were donated to the Robert Land Community Centre on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

“Every year, the McMaster Children's Centre looks for ways to make a difference in the community, and we decided to give the gift of literacy to the Robert Land Community Centre,” says Janssens. “We asked parents and staff to donate new and gently used books, and they've been very generous.”

The children's books will be used by Robert Land's after school Hoops and Homework Club and the parenting books will be used by the Robert Land Mom's Group.

The McMaster Children's Centre is also running a food drive for the Wesley Centre and has put up a mitten tree for St. Matthew's House.

The donated books were presented to Robert Land Board member Brian Henley and Robert Land Mom's Group member Susan Fowler.
