McMaster celebrates Fall convocation

McMaster University congratulates the many students being awarded degrees today at the Fall convocation ceremonies, taking place in the Great Hall of Hamilton Place.
The morning ceremony will see degrees conferred upon the graduating classes of the DeGroote School of Business, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Arts and Science Program, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Health Sciences will be awarded their degrees at 2:30 p.m.
Four distinguished Canadians will also be receiving honorary McMaster degrees today: David Johnston, president of the University of Waterloo, Janice Gross Stein, director of the Munk Centre for International Studies at the University of Toronto and Sheila Watt-Cloutier, an environmental activist and advocate for the Inuit will all receive a Doctor of Laws, and David Brillinger, a professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of California, Berkeley, will receive a Doctor of Science.
Honorary degree recipients are recognized for their contributions in such areas as public service, education and scholarship, creative and performing arts, and for their work within the McMaster community.
Congratulations to the graduating class of 2008: you have earned your recognition from McMaster only through hard work and determination. May the future bring you happiness and success.
