More than 650 children attended the event, which involves a small hike along a trail entirely lit up by jack-o-lanterns. With the help of the Maroons, students of G. R. Allan School carved many of the pumpkins in the week leading up to pumpkin hike.
The evening was an adventure for each child to locate the masterpieces they created. As a special treat, warm apple cider and Halloween treat bags were provided for those who attended. This event also included a pumpkin party provided by Smiling Over Sickness, complete with spooky Halloween games.
“Special thanks to Dymants Pumpkin Patch, Fortinos on Main St W, The Barn Markets, and Party Packagers for their donations, and to G. R. Allan Home and School for all the hard work they also put into this special evening,” says Katie Graham, Maroons fundraising co-ordinator 2005-2006. “An even bigger thank you goes to all the hardworking Maroons who dedicated their Friday night to helping make this event one to look forward to every year.”
