Marauders upset on the road by Gryphons

After one of the most surprising losses in the history of McMaster football on Saturday, a 22-20 loss to the Guelph Gryphons (2-4), the McMaster Marauders now find themselves in unfamiliar territory in the OUA standings – in a three-way tie for fourth place, and just one point out of the playoffs.

After missing two short field goals in the second half, Guelph kicker Graham Dorey booted the game-winner with just over two minutes left to play. The Marauders had two drives in the final minutes to try and take the lead, however quarterback Jon Behie threw interceptions in both sequences to kill the McMaster threat.

Behie struggled throughout the second half, as the Guelph defence changed from a blitzing scheme in the first 30 minutes to dropping eight and sometimes nine men in coverage in the second half. The Marauders could not adjust, and Behie completed only 19 of 42 passes for 247 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions.
