Marauders look to tie national record for consecutive wins

Mac vs. Laurier

Wide receiver Joshua Vandeweerd and the McMaster Marauders will try to tie Laval's national record of 19 consecutive wins Saturday when they host the Western Mustangs at Ron Joyce Stadium.

The McMaster Marauders football team will kick off its post-season Saturday at Ron Joyce Stadium.

The Marauders, who were unbeaten in the regular season, will take on the Western Mustangs, who finished 5-3.

The Mustangs gave the Marauders their closest game of the season on September 29, when they scored nine points in the final minute of regulation to make it a 33-27 final.

The OUA playoffs got underway last weekend, when Queen’s shut out Laurier 34-0 and Western beat Windsor 56-35.

McMaster and Guelph both had opening round byes.

The Marauders are riding an 18-game win streak that stretches back to 2011. A win on Saturday would tie the national record for consecutive wins, currently held by Laval.

The semifinal game is scheduled for Saturday at 4:30 p.m. It will be broadcast on theScore.

The Marauders will host a pre-game tailgate party in Marauder Plaza outside Ron Joyce Stadium starting at 3 p.m.
