In the McMaster Marauders' 32-13 victory over the Queen's Golden Gaels, McMaster lost fumbles, threw interceptions, and took many unnecessary penalties.

But Jesse Lumsden moved those mistakes to the background and took the spotlight.

Lumsden ran for 279 yards on 31 carries and scored two touchdowns. In doing so, he eclipsed former Waterloo Warrior Mike Bradley's career OUA rushing record (3,733 yards), Bradley's career CIS touchdown record (41), and former Mt. Allison standout Eric Lapointe's single-season CIS rushing record (1,619). Lumsden now has 1,680 yards on 159 carries and 17 touchdowns on the season. Three more touchdowns for the running back and he will tie his CIS single-season touchdown record that he set last season and shares with
former teammate Kojo Aidoo (2,000).

McMaster, now solely in second place in the OUA, will travel to Ottawa next weekend to face the Ottawa Gee Gees. While McMaster is only two points out of first place, even if Laurier loses next weekend, they have clinched first place in the OUA based on the head-to-head matchup with McMaster. If McMaster wins against Ottawa, they will have a first-round bye in the playoffs. If they lose, they will host the sixth seed in OUA quarterfinal action.
