MAPS president Dave Moore and immediate past-president Carole Armstrong received the Ontario Volunteer Service Award at a ceremony in Hamilton on May 17. They were recognized for service to MAPS of 10 and 5 years, respectively.

“Carole and Dave have been exceptionally dedicated volunteers who have given generously of their time, talents, and energy to the benefit of their peers,” said Sam Minniti, MAPS executive director.

“It was pretty humbling to be in a room that size with so many people who have given so much …it really puts what we do into perspective,” said Armstrong. “Even more amazing was that it was the second night of Hamiltonians being honoured!”

The Ontario Volunteer Service Awards are presented by the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration to recognize continuous years of commitment and dedicated service by volunteers.

Established in 1979, MAPS represents more than 9,000 part-time students in enrolled degree studies and courses offered by the Centre for Continuing Education.
