Ishwar Puri, dean of McMaster’s Faculty of Engineering, contributed an editorial to Thursday’s Hamilton Spectator with a focus on advanced manufacturing as a key driver of economic success.

“These have been painful years for the traditional manufacturing economy, the cost measured through the despair of unemployment and idle factories,” writes Puri.

“Yet our unfolding future holds astonishing promise of economic opportunity and technological advancement, all the fruits of innovation. Look behind. Look ahead. Try to imagine how we can graft the lessons of the difficult decade behind us to the promise of the decade ahead.”
