Doug Barber, a distinguished professor-in-residence in the Faculty of Engineering and co-founder and former CEO of Gennum Corporation, will provide the keynote address.

The one-day conference, entitled Reaffirm, Reinvent, Reinvest, is a human resources event for Hamilton's manufacturing cluster. Organized by the Industry-Education Council of Hamilton in co-operation with the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, it is expected to attract 125 leaders and human resource practitioners.

“The sponsorship highlights the links and opportunities that the manufacturing sector has with the Faculty of Engineering, including undergraduate internship opportunities, research through the McMaster Manufacturing Research Institute (MMRI), the Brockhouse Institute for Materials Research, Steel Research Centre and McMaster Centre for Automotive Materials and Manufacturing,” says Andrew Hrymak, director of MMRI.

Information about undergraduate internship opportunities and a new undergraduate interdisciplinary program in manufacturing will be provided to conference participants, as well as proposed new graduate professional master's degree programs in the School of Engineering Practice: Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Public Policy and Design.

Perrin Beatty, president and CEO of Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters, is among the conference presenters. Presenters include HR leaders, managers and practitioners from area manufacturers. Workshops and presentations are organized into three learning tracks: strategic, operational and community.
