Several Deans and senior managers from T.A. Marryshow Community College (TAMCC) travelled to McMaster on April 18th to participate in a 3-day retreat with MacPherson staff set to exploring quality assurance and program enhancement frameworks.

This third exchange marks the successful implementation of a needs assessment initiated over the past year by Peter Mascher, AVP International and Arshad Ahmad, AVP Teaching & learning and the Director of The MacPherson Institute. It has led to an international, five-year partnership that has been established between the two institutions, the Government of Grenada, and the PETNA Foundation, whose collaborative efforts are directed towards the revitalization of Grenada’s sole national college.

The delegates worked with MacPherson facilitators focussing on a roadmap to transform its curriculum. “We have different institutional histories and contexts, but we also share challenges that become evident in successfully designing and implementing program enhancement frameworks in post-secondary institutions” Jennifer Blaney, the Manager of Strategic Initiatives at the MacPherson Institute helping to oversee the partnership states. “There is much that we stand to learn from each other to address these challenges, and we look forward to continuing to work with our Grenadian colleagues on these issues.”

The visit of TAMCC’s Curriculum Committee to McMaster is part of a broader series of activities and exchanges geared to building capacities not only in areas of curriculum and quality assurance, but also faculty development and student engagement at the college.
