Risky Business is the topic of tonight's MaCafe Scientifique at 7 p.m. in Wentworth House, The Phoenix.

The event will feature speakers Martin Daly, professor, Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour, and Matheus Grasselli, assistant professor, Department of Mathematics & Statistics

Investment. Gambling. Dangerous driving. What makes a decision more or less risky?

Questions for discussion include:

  • How is risk measured?
  • Is risk necessarily a bad thing?
  • Is there a right way to make risky choices?
  • How do social factors affect responses to risk?
  • If we know how to make financial investments, will that help us make other decisions?
  • Who finds risk attractive and why?

    MaCafe Scientifique is an informal forum that allows non-academics to weigh in on science-related topics.
