Lori Goff has been named director of the Paul R. MacPherson Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Excellence in Teaching. She begins her role on Monday, April 22.

“I’m extremely excited to lead and work with a group of very committed, engaged, and enthusiastic staff at the MacPherson Institute,” says Goff.

“Following the Provost’s Review on Teaching and Learning, we are eager to refine and clarify the Institute’s mandate and work towards cultivating an environment where learning deeply matters and teaching is valued and recognized by the collective McMaster community.”

Goff has been the institute’s acting, then interim director, since April 2018.

“With over 16 years of experience at McMaster, Lori has a wealth of cultural and contextual knowledge of the institution, as well as historical understanding of how teaching, its value and development, has evolved,” said Vice-Provost Susan Searls Giroux in an a email earlier this week.

“She has built an extensive network of teaching and learning colleagues across Canada and is well regarded provincially and nationally for her research work in the areas of institutional teaching culture, quality assurance and curriculum development.

“Under her steady guidance and leadership, I am confident the institute will meaningfully contribute to the teaching and learning culture at McMaster as the institute works to realize its vision. “
